Students:
We will be hosting the prestigious Peter Hobson and Jean-Denis Carette prizes for the best student oral and poster presentations, respectively. Please indicate your interest in participating in these competitions through the Abstract submission site in order that we correctly schedule your presentation.
Instructions for Speakers:
Talks will be given in Saywell Hall (SWH) room 10081. Invited talks have a 50 min time slot including about 5 to 10 min for questions. Contributed talks have a 30 min time slot including time for the set-up, presentation and question period. We suggest that you leave 3 to 5 minutes to answer questions from the audience. Running over time is considered very bad manners and highly discouraged.
We recommend that you bring your talk in PowerPoint (.ppt, .pptx), OpenDocument (.odp), or Adobe Acrobat format on a USB storage device and pre-load it onto the presentation computer prior to the session in which you are scheduled to talk. You may also hook up your laptop directly, but this method is discouraged as it may result in a prolonged set-up time, which will be deducted from your talk and causes an inconvenience to the audience. An exception is the first speaker at the beginning of the day or after a break since then the set-up can be done ahead of time. Other arrangements may be available upon request, please consult with the organizers. Volunteers will also be available for your assistance.
